The medical diagnosis which refers to people that suffer from symptoms of mania and depression is known as bipolar disorder.

There are a lot different factors that work together to create this disorder. Bipolar often runs in families so scientist’s are currently searching for a specific gene that may be the cause.
However, it is general consensus that bipolar disorder is caused by multiple genes working together, just like most mental diseases.
